Amish Potato Salad goes with practically anything, from picnics to lunch to dinner! This good old-fashioned deli salad combines cooked potatoes with creamy yellow sweet and sour dressing enriched with hard boiled eggs, sour cream and mustard.
What’s different about Amish Potato Salad is that it is much sweeter than regular potato salad, but you can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. You’ll be surprised how simple it is to make this recipe. Just mix all dressing ingredients in a bowl and toss over boiled potatoes. That’s it!

Amish Potato Salad goes with practically anything, from picnics to lunch to dinner!
- 1 lb potatoes; peeled boiled and cut into cubes, 1/2 kg
- 2 hard boiled eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup sugar*
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Place potatoes and chopped hard boiled egg whites in a large bowl.
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, hard boiled eggs yolks, sour cream, mustard, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Mix well. Pour over potatoes and and gently stir until thoroughly coated. Refrigerate Amish Potato Salad until cooled, at least 30 minutes, before serving.
