Coffee Smoothie – best, quickest and healthiest breakfast for every coffee lover!
Coffee lovers rejoice! I think this is the best, quickest and healthiest breakfast you can have. I drink it very often and it is one of my go-to breakfast options.
If you like the taste of coffee but want to avoid caffeine you can use decaffeinated type of coffee granules.
Last two years I’ve been adding a little bit of yogurt to the mixture. It is not only healthy, but also refreshing and it somehow balances the sweetness of the smoothie.
Before I bought a powerful blender I used to grind rolled oats flaxseeds and chia seeds in my coffee grinder (spice grinder). Nowadays I just toss all ingredients in the blender (without grinding) and it blends it all into very smooth and frothy thick drink.
If you have time, it is also good to combine oats and chia/flaxseeds with milk and let them stand for at least 10-15 minutes, or even better over night (keep refrigerated). Seeds will have time to soak the moisture and plump up.
Naturally, if you’re vegetarian or vegan you can replace dairy milk with plant-based milk and the smoothie will be just as good.
Five years ago I made very similar recipe for diettaste.com, my healthy food blog. The only difference is that I used flaxseeds instead of chia seeds and omitted ice cubes. The video below shows how I made it:

- 2 tsp instant coffee granules or to taste
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 bananas
- 2 1/2 cups milk of choice
- 1-2 Tbsp chia seeds
- a few drops of liquid stevia or other sweetener
- ice cubes (optional)
-
Optional step: Combine oats with chia seeds and milk and let stand for at least 10 minutes (or even over night).
-
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
Sounds yummy, thanks, Marie Goodson
I can see myself just making overnight oats using your recipe. I use monkfruit for sweetner and I like the caffiene I guess you could say as I have instant espresso that I would use in it. Thank you for the recipe. Will diffently use it.
You are welcome, girls! 🙂
Oatmeal is very good for health. It is very healthier and for breakfast, it is the perfect one! I daily try to make it at breakfast for my children and they just love it
I can’t eat banana’s so wondering what I could substitute?? Please an thanks
I believe you could use any of following ingredients: applesauce, mango, papaya, pear, avocado, pumpkin puree, sweet potato puree. There is no other way but to experiment until you find the one you like the most.
I can’t eat bananas either so I use avocado. I know it sounds gross but I can’t taste it or believe me I wouldn’t put it in a smoothie.
It does not sound gross. I put avocado in smoothies sometimes. It makes them very creamy.
