Hemp Seed Butter – homemade super food spread for fruit, muffins and sandwiches.
This is first time I’ve tried hemp seeds. I’ve found out they are most nutritious seed in the world: they are complete protein, full of vitamins and enzymes, healthy omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and minerals. Many health benefits make it a true super food.
Hemp seeds can be added to smoothies, baking and cooking products and even used to make non-dairy milk. I wondered whether they can be turned into butter. They can.
The process is very simple: put hemp seeds in your blender with oil and a pinch of salt and blend until smooth. In a few seconds time you’ll get your homemade hemp seed butter.
With it’s rich nutty flavor similar to sunflower seeds, Hemp Seed Butter is best used as a spread for sandwiches, muffins or fruit.
Serving suggestion: cut banana in quarters, spread with hemp butter and garnish with goji berries – you’ll get two kinds of super food in one meal.

- 1/2 cup hemp seed
- 1 1/2 Tbsp oil (sunflower, hemp or olive oil)
- a pinch of salt optional
-
Put hemp seed, oil and salt (if using) in your blender. Blend until smooth. Store Hemp Seed Butter in the fridge.
I usually just buy hemp seed butter from the health food store.. but if it is this simple to make I definitely will be making it myself in the future. Thanks for sharing the great recipe.
