Is that self rising or all purpose flour youre using?
It is all-purpose flour.
What is the shelf life?
I am not sure, but I believe it will keep for up to 2 months, stored in a container with air-tight lid.
I used the powdered shortening… and its shelf stable for a year… though it has never lasted anywhere near that long in my pantry.
Megan, could you share where to find powdered shortening? What is the brand name also? Thanks so much for the information.
Thanks for this money saving recipe. I’ll be trying it soon in a copycat recipe for “Red Lobster Biscuits”. Oh! and pancakes. Will be even cheaper to use than the “Aldi’s” store brand of baking mix. Saving my pennies for my dream trip to Hawaii 🙂 I’ll let you know how my biscuits and pancakes turn out with your sure to please recipe.
I love the recipe!! Thanks for sharing. I also love the jar in the picture.. please share where you purchased it! Thanks so much!
It is an old jar I got from my mom. I made the label myself using these labels: http://www.pinterest.com/kitchenostalgia/printable-labels/
You can always browse thru any dollar store–they have different kinds of glassware and storage containers. I found some square Anchor Hocking storage jars with plastic lids and seals at my Rite Aid drugstore, on clearance!
