Ingredients
- 2 eggs well beaten
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 ts nutmeg (optional)
Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla extract.

Stir in the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Chill 1 – 2 hours so it will be easy to handle.

Roll the dough out on a floured surface until it is 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place the cookies 1 inch apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake 7 to 8 minutes at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to racks immediately to cool.

The ingredients call for vanilla extract, but the directions call for lemon. Which is it? Thanks!

It is vanilla extract. But I’m sure lemon would also taste good.
