Fresh Mint Tea – refreshing hot or cold drink to sooth your mood as well as your stomach! It will help you reduce stress, focus your mind and eliminate appetite.
I discovered long time ago how good mint tea (lat. Mentha piperita) is for my stomach. It helped me to sooth it as well as to cool down my mood as it relieves stress. What I like is that it will calme me down without making me sleepy. It also helps with headaches and gall-bladder problems, among other health benefits. It is my go-to tea whenever I’m in similar kind of trouble.
Did you know that in Japan they pump mint-scented air into some office buildings because it helps workers reduce stress, concentrate and work better? Even Tokyo Stock Exchange uses peppermint essence to fragrance its air every afternoon to refresh and invigorate employees.
A friend of mine has started a small community-based city garden and he already has some mint growing in it. The other day he brought me a handful of fresh peppermint leaves to try it. Since I’m mostly used to dry tea-bag mint tea, naturally I wanted to try the real thing.
It is so easy to make fresh mint tea that I cannot even call it a “recipe”. You put several mint leaves into your cup, pour boiling water over it and wait for a few minutes for leaves to steep. I love my mint tea unsweetened, but you can add some sugar or honey to it, if you like. Serve it hot with a lemon wedge or cold over some ice cubes. Enjoy!
- leaves a small handful of fresh mint tea
- 2 cups water
- sweetener to taste
Wash mint leaves and divide them between 2 cups.
Boil the water and pour over mint leaves. Let steep for about 5 minutes. There is no need to strain the tea, but you can do it if you like to.
Sweeten to taste and enjoy!
