Green smoothies are so healthy! They are rich in immune-boosting nutrients and chlorophyll (a nutrient-rich green pigment that closely resembles a molecule of human blood).
Green smoothies can help you a lot if you are trying to lose weight, since they are nutrient-rich, low in fat and loaded with fiber.
Drinking green smoothies will increase your mineral consumption, which improves your body’s ability to process insulin and that means healthier blood sugar levels, which is very important for people with diabetes or hypoglycemia.
For some people with diabetes, when drinking smoothies with large quantities of sweet fruit in the morning, on an empty stomach, it is possible to raise blood sugar. That is why I suggest you drink it rather in the afternoon. Also, it is best to keep fruit content low or opt for low glycemic fruits in the amount of no more than 1 cup.
Adding ground flax seeds to your smoothie will slow down the release of the fruit sugar into your bloodstream.
Cinnamon improves insulin sensitivity and blood glucose control by taking as little as 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day.
