Vegan Date Shake – creamy and sweet Palm Springs smoothie, healthy and dairy-free!
Summer is time when we naturally search for cold shakes that are both creamy and sweet. Palm Springs date shake is one of the most popular shake recipes. It consists of medjool dates, milk, vanilla ice cream and a dash of nutmeg.
From now on, vegans can enjoy this sweet summer treat, too. Instead of ice cream, I used frozen banana and vanilla extract. When you think of it, there are so many (good) recipes for vegan ice cream using frozen banana instead of dairy. Then this one should not come as a surprise.
In this recipe, dairy milk is replaced with non-dairy kind (like almond milk or oat milk).
There is no need to use ice cubes because banana is already frozen.
- 4 medjool dates, pitted
- 1 cup non-dairy milk
- 1 frozen banana
- a few drops of vanilla extract
- a dash of nutmeg

Blend dates, milk, banana, vanilla and nutmeg until smooth and frothy.

Pour into a tall glass. Serve immediately topped with whipped topping and grated nutmeg (optional).
