Romano Chicken with Lemon Garlic Pasta – crispy parmesan panko breaded chicken with pasta in fresh lemon garlic cream sauce! Tasty meal in 30 minutes time!

When I made my own Homemade Panko Bread Crumbs, I naturally had to use them in some nice recipe. Breaded chicken is the first thing that comes to mind, so I made Romano Chicken with Lemon Garlic Pasta.
What is Chicken Romano?
Chicken Romano is a dish of crispy fried chicken cutlets, breaded with Panko breadcrumbs and Romano cheese.
How to make Chicken Romano?
Chicken cutlets are dipped in Parmesan cheese (or Romano Cheese), egg and Panko breadcrumbs. Then they are fried (or baked, to reduce fat content) until golden. They are served over pasta tossed with lemon butter garlic sauce. It is all simple to make and doesn’t take much time.
The sauce can be more or less tangy, depending on your taste. Less lemon juice and more cream make it mild while more lemon juice and less cream make it robust.

Romano Chicken with Lemon Garlic Pasta is certainly not “light food”, but it is a great dish for when you need to feel full and satisfied. For similar, but lighter, recipe look at Chicken Francese:
I made a short video to show you how to make Romano Chicken at home:

Romano Chicken with Lemon Garlic Pasta – crispy parmesan panko breaded chicken with pasta in fresh lemon garlic cream sauce! Tasty meal in 30 minutes time!
- ROMANO CHICKEN:
- 1/2 lb chicken breasts, butterflied or thinly cut into cutlets
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese or Romano cheese
- 1 egg
- dry parsley
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs, homemade or store-bought
- oil for frying – I used combination of olive oil and sunflower oil
- LEMON GARLIC PASTA:
- 1/2 lb linguine or spaghetti or other pasta
- juice from 1 lemon, or to taste
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- zest from 1/4 lemon
- 2 Tbsp butter, cold
- 2-3 Tbsp whipping cream, or to taste
- salt, pepper
-
CHICKEN ROMANO: Place parmesan cheese in a shallow dish. In another dish, put beaten egg with dry parsley; in third dish put panko bread crumbs.
-
Season chicken cutlets with salt and pepper; dredge with parmesan cheese, dip into beaten egg; press the chicken in panko bread crumbs to coat on both sides; shake off the excess.
-
Heat olive oil in a pan; add chicken cutlets and cook on low heat until golden and cooked through.
-
LEMON GARLIC PASTA: Cook pasta according to package direction; drain (reserve about 1/2 cup pasta water).
-
Add lemon juice to a pan; add garlic, lemon zest, a pinch of salt and pepper, and cook until liquid is reduced to about half.
-
Add 1 Tbsp butter and slowly melt into your sauce, while swirling the pan; add another 1 Tbsp butter and repeat; stir in whipping cream and about 2 Tbsp pasta water.
-
Add cooked pasta and toss to combine. Serve romano chicken over lemon garlic pasta.

This was amazing. Made it for dinner tonight and it will definitely be a reg part of our menu!
I just prepared the Romano Chicken with Lemon Garlic Pasta and it was delicious! It was also very easy to prepare. My husband only had one complaint and that was that there should have been more! I can’t wait to make the Tiramisu, it looks scrumptious! As was previously stated, I will not prepare anything that has uncooked eggs or anything else uncooked, of course I don’t mean veggies or fruits. Thank you for sharing your wonderful and delicious recipes.
You’re welcome RoseMarie! I’m very happy to hear that you both liked my recipe. 🙂

Hi. I would love to try this recipe as I love anything with lemon. What temperature and for how long should I cook it in the oven for? Many Thanks , Zunilda
You will need to bake it for about minutes in 350 F (175 C) preheated oven or until chicken turns from pink to white and juices run clear.
How many minutes?
It was a hit for tonight dinner, after frying the cutlets I decided to put in a cast iron on the oven for 20 minutes just in case the chicken was not cooked enough… pasta was delicious I used angel hair pasta…
