Hummus is a Middle Eastern dip or spread made from chickpeas (or garbanzo beans). It is popular in Greek cuisine, too.
Ingredients:
1 (15 oz) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed (optional)
4 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Preparation:
- In a blender or food processor, blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
- Serve with pita bread or as an accompaniment to grilled chicken, falafel, fish or eggplant.
