Russian Salad is a traditional salad dish from Russia. It was invented in the 1860s by Lucien Olivier, the chef of the Parisian-style restaurant in Moscow called “Hermitage.”
This salad is usually called Russian salad in Western European and Latin American countries. However its original name is Salad Olivier.

Ingredients
- 5 medium potatoes
- 3 medium carrots
- 4 medium eggs, boiled
- 1 pound boiled meat (poultry, veal, beef or ham)
- 1/2 pound green peas
- 2-3 medium dill pickles, cut into squares
- salt to your taste
- 1/2 pound mayonnaise
- salt, pepper
Instructions

Boil potatoes and carrots. Let cool.

Chop potatoes, carrots, eggs and meat. Add dill pickles and green peas and salt.

Stir mayonnaise. Season with salt and pepper.

Mix the salad and refrigerate for 2 hours.
