Apple Fritters - learn how to make easy homemade apple fritters from scratch.

  • 200 ml (3/4 cup + 2 Tbsp) milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp rum
  • 7 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of lemon zest
  • 2 large (or 3 medium) apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch rings
  • 2 cups oil for frying
  • powdered sugar and cinnamon for dusting
  1. Whisk milk wit egg, vanilla and rum. Add flour, baking powder, salt and lemon zest.
  2. Pat dry apple rings with paper towel. Dip into batter and fry until golden brown, or about 3 minutes on each side. Drain on baking sheet lined with paper towels.
  3. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon and serve immediately.
