Hallo and welcome to my blog!
I’m Z. – owner, creator, photographer, videographer, recipe developer and a web designer of Kitchen Nostalgia (kitchennostalgia.com). I first started publishing recipes in 2006 on my site Old Time Cooking Recipes. I turned it into a blog in October 2012 and renamed it to Kitchen Nostalgia in May 2013.
I had another healthy recipe site called Diet Taste. It was too time consuming for me to manage two blogs, so in June 2018 I merged it with this site. All the recipes that were former a part of diettaste.com now you can find here when you click on menu item “Healthy“.
At first, recipes were just a hobby of mine. I like collecting old recipes and even more enjoy inventing new ones (so many ideas, so little time). Also, food is always very important in my family. Every holiday family gathering turns into some kind of debate about food. My grandparents were bakers, pastry shop, grocery shop and pub owners and wine makers. With that kind of background I simply had to inherit some interest in food.
I wanted my blog to remind readers of old times when women were very skillful cooks and spent a lot of time in their kitchens. I can remember my mom and grandmothers doing so. But the problem with their recipes is that often they are not understandable enough for us. As you may have noticed, usually there are no measurements in old recipes. The recipe says something like this: “Take a large piece of butter and mix with enough flour and sugar to make a dough.” ??? I wish I could make those wonderful recipes more clear, simplify them and bring them to 21st century.
I like to cook everything from scratch and most of the time I do. Here and there I will use some shortcut, but I try to make my food as healthy as possible.
To stay informed about everything that is happening on my blog, sign up via email for my newsletter and never miss a new recipe. If you do, you will get a KitchenNostalgia eCookbook for free!
P.S.
Please note that English is not my native language. I’m trying to write my posts as good as I can, but from time to time a do make occasional mistake.
