How many patties does this make? And the peas are put in whole?
Peas are put in whole, but I don’t remember how many patties does this make.
Could you sub in chickpea flour instead of whole chickpeas?
Maybe you could, but I didn’t try it. Since flour is dry, I guess you should add some liquid.
These were delicious!! I forgot the peas…maybe next time. They freeze really well too. Can you suggest a gluten-free version? Maybe just omit the flour?
I would not omit flour because patties will fall apart. Maybe you could use some kind of mixture of whole grain flour (like oat flour, millet flour, rice flour…) and starch (potato starch, cornstarch).
I made some sweet potato/chick pea patties last night. VERY tasty.
2 large sweet potatoes (or 1 giant one) baked in microwave, then peel and cut up
1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
1-2 tsp chili powder or more to taste
1 tsp onion powder
salt / pepper
Mash together (no food processor – leave slightly chunky.
Add 1 egg
1 cup of rice krispies (instead of bread crumbs for GF)
Mix together well.
Make patties using 1/4 cup of mixture and fry until golden brown on both sides. I used coconut oil..
Sound great! I will have to try it some time 🙂
Can you substitute the flour with almond or coconut flour? If so, what would the conversion be? Thank you
I haven’t tried that yet, but if you do use almond flour, simply replace the volume of flour in the recipe with the same volume of almond flour.
If using coconut flour, you generally want to substitute 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup coconut flour for 1 cup grain-based flour.
Thank you. I will try it and see how it turns out.
Great pic and dish. Thanks for linking it in to Food on Friday. cheers
